Tremains Affordable Art Exhibition gears up for 2018

Napier Girls’ High School’s annual fundraiser, the Tremains Affordable Art Exhibition, will be back for its fourth year running in 2018 with more artists and more affordable artwork on sale for $1000 or less.

The fundraiser, held over the weekend 9-11 March 2018, will give art lovers the opportunity to view and purchase over 300 pieces of artwork created by more than 80 professional artists from throughout New Zealand, as well as art by Napier Girls’ High School students and teachers.

With every piece of artwork affordably priced at $1,000 or less, the exhibition provides an opportunity for those in the Hawke’s Bay community to start a new art collection or add to an existing one.

Iconic Hawke’s Bay real estate firm Tremains, and a fleet of local sponsors, along with a committee of parents of Napier Girls’ students and students themselves, are the driving force behind the community event, which has raised close to $75,000 for the school since its inception in 2015.

Tremains have recently come onboard as principal naming sponsor for the event for the next three years due to a close fit between their own core values and those of Napier Girls’ High School. Says Tremains agent Sarah Pinckney-Welch:

“We at Tremains are passionate about supporting events that benefit the local community. Having daughters attend the school in the past and at present, it seems a perfect fit that we support the Affordable Arts Exhibition. I’m very proud to be the Tremains representative involved in such a fantastic event.”

An exciting range of art will be on offer: from paintings, prints and photography to ceramics, mixed media, sculpture and screen prints. All art is produced by some of New Zealand’s most talented and respected artists, whose works are sought after locally, nationally and internationally.

The event will be launched with a ticketed Opening Gala Night event followed by the two-day exhibition. Also on offer is a raffle, with prizes donated by artists and local Hawke’s Bay businesses, collectively valued at over $2000.

The funds raised from the 2018 Tremains Affordable Art Exhibition will be used to help Napier Girls’ High School students make well-informed choices for health, wellbeing and other support initiatives.

Committee member Stefan Olsen, says the exhibition provides participating students with practical ‘behind-the-scenes’ insight into how a successful event is run.

“Our goal is to make the 2018 exhibition even better, with more artists involved, more art on offer and other exciting additions to the event including a pop-up café, raffle, spot prize giveaways and a special surprise at the opening evening.”

Tickets for the Opening Gala Night event are $35pp and include drinks, canapés by award-winning chef Terry Lowe (ex Blackbarn Kitchen), a chance to meet some of the artists involved, and of course the first opportunity to purchase the affordable art on offer.

Tickets will be from available soon on Eventfinda by searching ‘Tremains Affordable Art Exhibition 2018’. Also, examples of artwork from exhibiting artists will be viewable on the event’s website, which is currently being developed and will be live by the end of the year.
